My mom...Good for you for seeking out the knowledge. My mom told me again and again that she wouldn't have made it nursing without the support group she joined after I was born. I certainly think there is a balance...no need to stress. Lots of babies are healthy and happy on formula (Porter started at 4 mo), but I also think folks give up because it's hard or inconvenient. I even had a friend who had a full blown infection, let herself heal, got back at it and made it to a year. (She's a veterinarian...NO idea how she made that work with her crazy schedule.) I loved it...loved it more with each kid because by the third, that was the only guaranteed one-on-one time I had with him that no one could take away. (It's also a nice way to veg when you are exhausted! Yeah...if you do nurse and you wonder why you're tired b/c the baby is finally sleeping through the night...it's b/c you are working out 6-8+ times a day!) :) Just love the whole experience...don't fret about other folks' perceptions. Don't listen to our never ended advice...or all those blasted books! Each baby is different. :) Can't wait to see you this weekend!kpmantoothhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11539284958180960392noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2495947028331747057.post-36600259380153244852009-06-19T10:34:28.765-07:002009-06-19T10:34:28.765-07:00Laura, just don't get bogged down in this. You're going to be a great mom either way, so don't let it get to you.Laceyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16389771387246927566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2495947028331747057.post-31908785264507387062009-06-19T10:22:21.904-07:002009-06-19T10:22:21.904-07:00Laura, will you e-mail me? The nurse called in a zofran prescription for me, so I am really hoping that will bring relief. Did you take that?LBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06643896920237472344noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2495947028331747057.post-32179550870876420772009-06-19T10:18:57.933-07:002009-06-19T10:18:57.933-07:00Yes. She was really great and stopped by numerous times when we were there...she gave me lots of great hints and reassured me. I definitely wish I had taken her class pre baby...also, thank you for the sweet email...am getting back online slowly but surely!Ashley Turnbullhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11621160848819871470noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2495947028331747057.post-54816501702797071522009-06-18T07:37:23.752-07:002009-06-18T07:37:23.752-07:00I agree with Shealy, relax and be patient. I took a nursing class before Luke and it was a huge help, unfortunately I wasn't able to nurse, but instead I pumped for 3 months so Luke was still able to have momma's milk for a little while. I hope that it goes smoothly for you!Christenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03683454723524557976noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2495947028331747057.post-38975967880177744582009-06-17T16:54:23.525-07:002009-06-17T16:54:23.525-07:00My one piece of advice...relax. I would get so frustrated when Kate wouldn't do it and that just frustrated her. So, relax, be calm, and just know that y'all will get it :).Shealyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09907880893763885865noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2495947028331747057.post-85130433828517103992009-06-17T16:51:11.892-07:002009-06-17T16:51:11.892-07:00oh man, we had a terrible nursing experience. Ada...oh man, we had a terrible nursing experience. Ada would not latch on no matter what we did. Even though this is my second time around, I think I am going to take a nursing class b/c I so want nursing to go well this time. My nurses and lactation consultants at the hospital were awful. I blame a lot of our problems on them. Anyway...I could talk about nursing issues forever. All of that to say, I hope things go well for you:)LBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06643896920237472344noreply@blogger.com
